Basterds makes a splash in the 2016 metalcore scene with some impressive lineups right from the start. By 2019, they finally release the EP "Deliver Me" before turning towards the Montreal-based record label Hell for Breakfast in 2021 in order to release their very first LP, "A Place to Call Hell". The album turns out to be a great success - Basterds starts its ascension in the international scene, more precisely in the USA where they now have most of their followers.

Working with Max Lacroix from House of Gain Studio (more commonly known for his work with Obey the Brave, Sudden Waves, Don't Try, Horcrux) helped Basterds achieve greater results and surpass themselves. The release helps them get some great shows with Obey The Brave, Knocked Loose & Get The Shot.

Despise their indeniable ascension and successes with "A Place to Call Hell", Basterds manages to bring some changes to their already well-rounded sound by making it more mature. The addition of two new members, Alexis Francoeur (vocals) and Azalée Baillargeon (drums) adds a plethora of new layers, whether it’s about the energy in their music and implication in the scene or with their support towards the More Women On Stage movement, who got them touring with Pogo Car Crash Control (France).

This renewed energy was a excellent opportunity to release a new EP, "New Lows", issued in August 2023 and marking a brand new sound for Basterds with a heavy, slower and darker vibe with a profound and mature touch that brings a gust of fresh air in the north-american metalcore scene. The EP checked all the boxes and exceeded expectations, setting the table for new summits in a near future.

Basterds est entré dans la scène metalcore en force en 2016 avec des affiches de spectacle impressionnantes. Malgré leur ascension indéniable et le succès du groupe avec "A Place to Call Hell", Basterds réussit à apporter des changements à un style déjà bien maîtrisé en le rendant plus mature. L'addition de deux nouveaux membres, Alexis Francoeur (voix) et Azalée Baillargeon (batterie) ajoute des dimensions nouvelles au groupe qui se voit maintenant plus impliqué que jamais dans sa scène avec une nouvelle énergie, mais aussi avec un fort soutien envers le mouvement More Women On Stage qui les emmène d'ailleurs dans une tournée avec Pogo Car Crash Control (France).

Cette énergie renouvelée concrétise le besoin d'un nouvel EP, "New Lows", qui paraît en août 2023 et qui marque le début du nouveau son de Basterds, une vibe plus lourde, plus obscure et plus mature qui souffle comme un vent de fraîcheur dans la scène metalcore nord-américaine. L'EP répond à toutes les attentes et met la table pour de nouveaux sommets dans un futur très proche.
