At the end of 2020, right after the release of “Bridge To Extinction”, the band started brainstorming about what the future of Beyond Deviation should be.

The Covid-19 lockdowns gave them the time needed to really regroup and make this upcoming release the best in the band’s history. You can already get a feel for it with their last single “Identity Crisis” (November 24th, 2020). Critics and fans alike were unanimously shocked & astonished by the creepiness and quality that they delivered in the new single, really setting the tone for what’s to come.

You can expect a new EP at the end of 2021, after they break the world record for “Most vocalists on a single song” with the single “Beyond Deviation 400” (400 also being the number of vocalists featured on the 37 minutes-long track). They also announced at the end of 2020 the return of the original vocalist, Guillaume, which now makes Beyond Deviation a 2 vocalist-band, along with Nylist.

THE STORY.

Formed in 2014, Beyond Deviation started as a project to play local shows. The band quickly got picked up on its first month by one of the leading management agencies in deathcore at the time, Arrogance Management. With the help of many promotions from those days such as, Chugcore, Pure Deathcore and Total Deathcore, they were able to build a decent following, based on the devastating vocals that the vocalist at the time could deliver. “White Noise” EP was a hit.

Sadly, shortly after their quickly found success, Guillaume (vocalist) had to part ways with the band due to creative differences. Crushed by the news and the stress of having to find a suitable replacement a week before their very first tour, the remaining band members decided to look for a replacement vocalist. They found Matthew Krawchuk (ex-Suffokate) and went on to have some of the best years in the lifespan of the band. They travelled across Canada, sharing the stage with acts like Traitors, Falsifier, The Last Ten Seconds Of Life, and also delivered their highly anticipated sophomore EP “The Plague King”. The fans loved it and the sales records were indicative of that. There was no doubt that “The Plague King” was a worthy successor for “White Noise”.

Then the band saw itself part ways with Matthew (vocalist) because of distance issues, which brought up a lot of uncertainty for the future of Beyond Deviation. That’s when they onboarded who would be the most consistent vocalist to date, Nylist. He was exactly what the band needed to get the creativity flowing again, and 3 months later they had a new album written and recorded, that ended up being one of their most notable releases, a concept album about dissociation and anxiety, “Dark Passenger”. It was a first for them in the way they approached it, and something completely different than what their fans were used to expecting from them. The reception was mixed, some saying they strayed from their roots too much, but the number of new fans was enough to reassure them that they were in the right direction.

Shortly after the release of “Dark Passenger”, they needed to write new stuff. A year later, the band released a split EP called “Bridge To Extinction” with a local band called Martyrs. Considering how short it was, “Bridge To Extinction” went on to sell very well.

Aujourd’hui

À la fin de 2020, juste après la publication de « Bridge To Extinction », Beyond Deviation commença à réfléchir à des projets futurs.

Le confinement de la COVID-19 donna le temps aux membres de se regrouper et de faire de bien planifier la sortie du EP afin que celle-ci soit la meilleure de l’histoire du groupe. Les critiques et les fans ont été unanimement choqués et étonnés par la qualité et l’effroie que leur a suscité le premier extrait, Identity Crisis, qui a vraiment donner le ton pour ce qui est à venir.

Vous pouvez vous attendre à un nouvel EP du groupe à la fin de 2021, après avoir battu le record du monde pour Le plus grand nombre de chanteurs dans une même chanson avec le single « Beyond Deviation 400 » (400 étant aussi le nombre de chanteurs figurant sur la chanson, d’une durée de 37 minutes). Le retour de Guillaume, le chanteur original du groupe, fut également annoncé à la fin 2020, faisant de Beyond Deviation un groupe désormais composé de deux chanteurs.

La Bio

Formé en 2014, Beyond Deviation était à la base un projet destiné à jouer sur la scène musicale locale d’Ottawa/Montréal. Moins d’un mois après leur création, le groupe est approché par l’une des plus importantes agences d’artistes du moment sur la scène deathcore : Arrogance Management. Avec l’aide de plusieurs médias de l’époque, tels que Chugcore, Pure Deathcore et Total Deathcore, Beyond Deviation fut en mesure de bâtir sa notoriété, notamment grâce à la voix caractéristique de leur premier chanteur, dotée d’une grande puissance et agressivité. Leur EP « White Noise » fut un hit. (13 octobre 2015)

Malheureusement, peu après le début de leur succès, Guillaume (le chanteur) quitta le groupe en raison de différends au niveau créatif. C’est donc attristés par la nouvelle et pressés dans le temps que les autres membres cherchèrent rapidement un nouveau chanteur, à une semaine de leur première tournée. Ils finirent par trouver Matthew Krawchuk, ancien membre de Suffokate, avec lequel le groupe vécut quelques-unes de ses meilleures années : ils parcoururent le Canada, partagèrent la scène avec des artistes comme Traitors, Falsifier, The Last Ten Seconds Of Life, et sortirent également un deuxième EP très attendu, « The Plague King » (25 septembre 2017), qui fut un digne successeur de « White Noise ».

Matthew dut à son tour quitter le groupe pour une raison de distance, suscitant beaucoup d’incertitudes quant à l’avenir du groupe. C’est à ce moment qu’ils intégrèrent celui qui, à ce jour, serait le chanteur le plus compatible avec les autres membres, Nylist. Son arrivée au sein de Beyond Deviation eut pour effet de relancer leur créativité. Ainsi, trois mois plus tard, un nouvel album était écrit et enregistré. « Dark Passenger », album concept sur la dissociation et l’anxiété, aborda des sujets de façons très différentes comparativement à leurs deux EP, ce qui ne plut à tous leurs fans, certains reprochant au groupe de s’être trop éloignés de leur style original. Cependant, cet album leur permit aussi d’aller chercher de nouveaux fans.

Peu après la sortie de « Dark Passenger », le groupe ressentit le besoin d’écrire du nouveau matériel. Un an plus tard, le groupe lance le EP « Bridge To Extinction », en collaboration avec un groupe local appelé Martyrs. Considérant sa courte durée, ce mini-album s’est très bien vendu.
