Born in 2018 in Quebec City, the quartet lead by lead singer & guitarist Marie Desbiens already features a lot of achievements, including the release of their eponym EP Hipshot and a tour in China in 2019. Barely affected by the pandemic, they then took advantage of the new online platforms to book two virtual live shows in 2020 and 2021, amassing up to 19 000 spectators. They then built on that success with a tour in England in 2021 and the release of a second EP, “Stories”. They then ended the year on a high note by assuring the first part of The Damn Truth and The Creepshow’s live performance in Quebec. The band joined forces with Montreal’s own Hell for Breakfast in 2022 to create a brand new EP that should come out next winter. What makes Hipshot stand out from the rest? The voice, both sweet and abrasive, of their singer and the rythmic melodies halfway between pop and 90’s grunge. The formation defines itself as caramel-grunge, which reflects quite well their particular sound.

Voyant le jour dans la ville de Québec en 2018, le quatuor mené par Marie Desbiens ne perds pas de temps et amasse des accomplissements avec une rapidité fulgurante en enchaînant en 2019 la sortie du EP éponime “Hipshot” et une tournée en Chine. Peu affectés par la pandémie, Hipshot profite des nouvelles plateformes pour faire deux spectacles virtuels diffusés en direct en 2020 et 2021, amassant ainsi 19 000 spectateurs. Ils bâtiront ensuite sur ce succès pour partir en tournée en Angleterre en 2021 en plus de sortir leur dernier EP “Stories”, avant de revenir finir l’année en beauté au Québec en assurant la première partie des représentations de The Damn Truth et The Creepshow lors de leur passage. C’est ensuite en 2022 qu’ils joignent leurs forces avec la maison de disque montréalaise Hell for Breakfast pour commencer la production de leur prochain projet prévu pour l’hiver prochain. Ce qui différencie Hipshot? La voix à la fois douce et abrasive de sa chanteuse et les mélodies rythmiques à mi-chemin entre la pop et le grunge des années 90. La formation se définit d'ailleurs comme un groupe de caramel grunge, et cela décrit plutôt bien leur sonorité si particulière.
